The Kingdom of Lith
The Black Sorceress
In the year 908, the age of Dragonoath, a coup was plotted against the then King of Lith, Beoln. The leader of the coup was a young sorceress called Harla Sorrowspeaker, who had grown tired of Beoln’s attitude towards those who possess the power of the ancient Cyclean magicks. Harla, along with a small army known as the Blacksides stormed the King’s court and entered the throne room, demanding the head of Beoln. After a battle between Beoln’s Golden Champions, led by his Hexmage general, Yugonda Starwatcher, the Blacksides were driven from Moongate and a price put on Harla’s head.
Harla and her remaining band of warriors fled to the east, looting and pillaging villages along the way. She managed to recruit many a warrior to her cause and soon had a small battallion on her side. But with Beoln’s best men on her trail she realised that she must retreat beyond the Winterpeak Mountains and find a place where her army could grow. In the Battle of Avantasia, Harla managed to take the citadel of Avantasia and its surrounding villages, enslaving its people. For years she ruled over Avantasia, occasionally defending her land from Beoln’s men, who were now no match for her army and her powerful Cyclean magick.
In 929 it was discovered by adventurers in Warrenspire that Harla has planted one of her agents in the Council of Six and thwarted her plan to destroy the city with a dragon. It seems that motions were put in place for the Blacksides and her new orc warriors to begin enslaving people in the surrounding mountain villages, mainly Goliath tribes, to mine for Zendar crystals on Craghill Island. The crytals were brought back to Avantasia where they were used to power an armada of flying galleons. The armada lay waste to many towns and villages and captured key cities, including the capital. This was know to the people of Lith as the Day of Black Skies.
Harla’s whereabout is currently unknown but she has reportedly begun moving her army towards Tianor.
